Avoiding risk factors and increasing protective factors may help in colorectal cancer prevention. The following protective factors may decrease the risk of colorectal cancer:

Hormone replacement therapy that includes both estrogen and progesterone lowers the risk of colorectal cancer in the postmenopausal women. The removal of polyps in the colon and rectum may reduce the risk. Some colorectal polyps are adenomas that may become carcinogenic. Vitamins usage such as taking vitamin D or high doses of folic acid lowers the risk. So does eating lots of nutrition filled meals and limit usage of meat, have a high level of vegetables.
